Revised turnover threshold for food businesses under Food Safety and Standards

FSSAI vide order dated 13.03.2026 has introduced revised turnover threshold for food businesses under Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
The Food Authority hereby implemented revised turnover threshold for food businesses as follows:
Threshold Limits
| Registration | Turnoverup to Rs. 1.5 crore |
| State License | Turnover above Rs. 1.5 crore and up to Rs. 50 crore |
| Central License | Turnover above 50 Cr |
This supersedes all other earlier orders and regulations with respect to turnover thresholds or criteria specified under Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011 for categorisation of Food Businesses.
This revised turnover thresholds will come into effect from 01.04.2026.
