TDS and TCS Compliance Calendar
FY 2026-27 (1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027): Due Dates for Deposits, Returns, and Certificates
Quick Insights
• Missing even one TDS or TCS due date can quietly turn into extra interest and late fees.
• A small PAN or challan mismatch today can become a notice tomorrow.
• Filing the return is only half the job; matching the tax actually matters.
• Staying regular with TDS and TCS compliances saves more money than fixing mistakes later.
• Most compliance problems start small, but they get expensive when ignored.

Note on Form 141: the due date is not fixed for every month. It is generally required to be filed within 30 days from the end of the month in which the deduction is made, so businesses should check the applicable due date for their specific transaction.
Note on the FY 2025-26 Q4 certificates: the governing rule is the date of the underlying payment or credit, not the date of issuance. Since Q4 FY 2025-26 (January-March 2026) transactions predate the Income-tax Act, 2025, those TDS certificates must be issued as the old Form 16 (salary) or Form 16A (non-salary), even though the issuance and correction dates above fall after 1 April 2026. Form 130 and Form 131 apply only to income and deductions relating to Tax Year 2026-27 onward.
What Each Form Covers
• Form 138 is used for the quarterly salary TDS statement.
• Form 140 is used for the quarterly TDS statement covering payments to residents other than salary.
• Form 144 is used for the quarterly TDS statement relating to payments made to non-residents.
• Form 143 is used for the quarterly TCS statement.
• Form 131 is the non-salary TDS certificate, issued quarterly, generally within 15 days from the due date of the corresponding quarterly TDS statement.
• Form 133 is the TCS certificate, issued quarterly.
• Form 130 is the annual salary TDS certificate for the relevant tax year.
• All TDS/TCS statements, certificates and tax deposits should be reconciled with the books of account and the underlying payment or collection records.

Points to Remember
• Interest and the late-filing fee are different: interest relates to delay in deduction, collection or payment of tax, while the Rs. 200-per-day fee applies to delay in filing the prescribed TDS/TCS statement.
• A part of a month counts as a full month when calculating interest at 1% or 1.5%.
• The Rs. 200-per-day late fee cannot exceed the amount of TDS/TCS deductible or collectible for the relevant statement.
• The Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 penalty is not automatic in every delayed filing case; Section 461(2) protects qualifying delayed statements where tax, fee and interest are paid and the statement is filed within one month of the prescribed deadline.
• For FY 2026-27, provisions are cited under the Income-tax Act, 2025, since the new Act governs TDS obligations triggered on or after 1 April 2026.
• TDS and TCS for April 2026 to February 2027 are generally deposited by the 7th of the following month, while TDS and TCS for March 2027 has a separate, later deposit due date of 30 April 2027.
